We provide technical expertise, testing and analysis of friction, gallery and wear analysis, plastic ceramic and composite materials for various industrial and medical applications. We previously authored a guide for medical device designers interested in understanding wear properties, treatment and prevention, and the impact of materials selection of mating surfaces on wear. Our researchers have developed, validated and published methods for quantifying wear of orthopedic hip joint components. Utilizing this technique, over 500 metal-on-metal hip components have been measured, aiding scientists, implant designers and attorneys to understand the failure of these types of devices.
